Job Description

Directs and coordinates corporate activities concerned with financial administration, general accounting, patient business services, and financial reporting. This position also provides administrative supervision to assigned departments and is responsible for various projects and special functions.

  • Oversees corporate-wide financial functions and activities, including cash receipts and disbursements, general ledger maintenance, patient accounting responsibility and supervision of third party reimbursement activities.
  • Prepares and distributes monthly financial statements and supporting detail reports for Boards of Directors, administration and management using various ledgers, statistical reports and information from departments.
  • Completes various financial forecasts, including cost center, salary and direct expenses, month-end financial reporting, receivables levels (days in AR and aging), cost center productivity and any long-range strategic plans for the organization.
  • Maintains appropriate internal control safeguards over financial records and collection of cash; maintains compliance standards for providing accurate information on all facility patient billing.
  • Oversees the annual corporate-wide operating and capital budget process; effectively monitors facility and department budgets throughout the fiscal year.
  • Coordinates year-end corporate audits and other independent or governmental review of financial records.
  • Manages investment portfolio for corporate-wide investment activity, including funded depreciation.
  • Serves as Compliance Officer for the organization, chairs the Corporate Compliance Committee; is instrumental in developing a Corporate Compliance Plan which will monitor compliance with regulatory aspects of healthcare deliver, including billing practices, Medicare and Medicaid compliance.
  • Evaluates and offers financial advice when facility grants are written, oversees billing and collection of funds due from granting agencies; is responsible for submission of interim and/or financial reporting for grant activity.
  • As directed by CEO, reviews contracts and other agreement for financial impact and overall feasibility of participation.

Education: A Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting or its equivalent is required. A Master’s in Healthcare or Business Administration or equivalent is preferred.

Experience:  3 to 5 years experience in a job requiring similar accounting skills and knowledge is required. 5 to 7 years of experience with upper level administration regarding hospital record keeping, budgeting and third party reimbursement is preferred.

Licensure Requirements:   C.P.A.; FHFMA; or C.M.P.A is preferred.
