The Town of Milford seeks a dedicated, proactive, and experienced candidate to serve as its Fire Chief.

Milford, incorporated in 1833, is in Penobscot County, 15 miles northeast of Bangor. Milford is a close-knit, family-oriented community of approximately 3,000 year-round residents.

Ideal Background & Minimum Qualifications

• Considerable managerial experience, preferably in firefighting, including supervisory and administrative responsibilities; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Post-secondary degree in Fire Science, Management, or a closely related field is preferred (Associate’s minimum or equivalent; Bachelor’s preferred).
• At least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience with extensive, current fire, EMS, and HazMat training demonstrating expertise across Fire Administration.
• Required certifications: Firefighter I & II, Fire Instructor I , Fire Officer I , and AEMT (Paramedic preferred).
• Progression requirement: Fire Officer II within 12 months of hire; Fire Officer III within 24 months.
• Inspector credential: Must hold and maintain NFPA Certified Fire Inspector , or obtain within 12–18 months of appointment.
• Licensed EMS service provider; AEMT minimum (Paramedic preferred).
• Valid Maine driver’s license.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $82,000.00 per year
