Under the direction of the Warden and under the direct supervision of the Associate Warden, Business Services (AWBS). Plans, organizes and directs the fire prevention, fire suppression, fire education, and safety training programs of the correctional facility(s). Directly supervises Fire Captains, Hazardous Material Specialists, and indirectly supervises incarcerated firefighters. Manages mutual and automatic aid agreements with outside fire and other governmental agencies. Serves as the Institution’s Safety Officer. Ensures compliance with applicable safety regulations, laws, and policies within the institution affecting California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) employees, incarcerated persons, facilities, and programs. Serves as the chairperson of the institution safety committee. Assumes command during emergencies involving firefighting operations, rescue operations, building evacuations, medical response, etc., with assistance and cooperation of all prison personnel. Reviews and revises Operational Plans annually. Subject to emergency call-back. All applications will be screened and only the most qualified will be interviewed .
