TITLE: General Manager

You’ll be empowered to lead the dealership with full operational responsibility across all departments.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Drive performance across Sales, Service & Parts with clear KPIs and structured systems

- Lead and develop department managers and ensure team alignment to company standards

- Implement and manage a proven playbook that delivers consistent outcomes

- Foster a customer-first culture while meeting financial and operational goals

- Collaborate closely with senior leadership for ongoing strategy, support, and development

-Hires, trains, motivates, counsels and monitors the performance of all dealership staff

-Directs staffing and training in ways that will enhance the development and control of sales programs and drive customer service and strong service

-Understands how to grow fixed and variable ops work

-Establishes annual and monthly objectives for unit sales, gross profits, expenses, and operating profit

-Monitors all productivity and performance

-Orders/acquire new- and used-vehicle inventory

-Administers and monitors factory-sponsored programs

-Displays, merchandise and promotes new- and used vehicles

-Reviews market analyses and sales reports to determine customer needs, and volume potential, and develops sales campaigns to accommodate the goals of the dealership

-Leads with strong goals and KPIs

-Serves as liaison between all departments

-Analyzes and controls expenditures to conform to budgetary requirements

-Maintains a professional appearance

-Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

- 5+ years of experience as a General Manager or senior leader in a dealership environment

- Demonstrated success in hitting performance goals and managing full P&L responsibilities

- Strong leadership presence and communication skills

- Ability to manage and coach cross-functional teams with discipline and focus

- Valid CA licensing for the position

-Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.

-Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals

-Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public

-Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents

-Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community

-Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. -Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors

-Ability to read, analyze and interpret the most complex documents

-Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints

-Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style

-Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors

-Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume

-Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry

-Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry

-Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations

Education:

-Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

 

 PAY RATE: $120,000 - $140,000 Annual Gross (Base) + Commission

 

Physical Requirements:

The position is based in a normal automotive dealership environment. Occasional physical activity such as reaching below and above shoulder level, kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping to inspect repairs, and lifting and carrying objects over 25lbs. There may be potential exposure to fumes, chemicals, dust, along with high levels of noise. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately noisy. The position will experience frequent sedentary work, in an office environment. The employee must have visual acuity to determine the accuracy and thoroughness of the work assigned. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally work near moving mechanical parts or in outside weather conditions. The employee may occasionally be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals. Subject to weather conditions both inside and outside.
