Hourly Pay Range: $28.47 - $42.71 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.
Position Highlights: - Position: Histology Technician
- Location: Northwest Community Hospital
- Full Time/Part Time: Part Time, 20 hours
- Hours: Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm
What you will do: - Conducting tissue specimen processing to incudes: receiving, accessioning, and preparing tissue specimens for histological examination, as well as embedding, sectioning, staining, and mounting on slides.
• Ensuring the accuracy and reliability of histological slides by adhering to strict quality control measures and protocols.
• Operating and maintain laboratory equipment, including microscopes and tissue processors. Examine slides to identify tissue abnormalities and cellular structures.
• Preforming various staining techniques, such as hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining, immunohistochemistry, and special stains, to enhance tissue visibility and aid in diagnosis.
• Documentation: Maintain detailed records of specimen processing, staining procedures, and quality control data. Document any discrepancies and take corrective actions as needed.
• Monitoring and restocking of laboratory supplies and reagents to ensure continuous workflow.
• Following safety protocols, including handling hazardous chemicals and biological materials, and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Collaborating with pathologists, laboratory staff, and healthcare providers to discuss findings, assist in diagnosis, and ensure timely reporting of results.
What you will do: • Education: Bachelors Degree Required
• Certification: Required Certified Histotechnologist (HTL) - American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC) Or
• Certified Histotechnician (HT) - American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC) Required
• Experience: 1 Year experience in a Histology laboratory required.
• Unique or Preferred Skills: Experience with, microtomy, staining, and analyzing instruments within a histology lab setting (Leica Bond, Benchmark Ultra, H&E Stainer etc.)
