The Soldner Laboratory at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine is seeking highly motivated and creative postdoctoral researchers with backgrounds in neuroscience, stem cell biology, molecular genetics, or bioinformatics. Our research focuses on modeling human brain development and function in cell culture to systematically investigate the genetic, cellular, and molecular basis of complex neurological disorders, including Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease.
We take an interdisciplinary approach, integrating functional genomics approaches in human pluripotent stem cell (hPSC) derived neuronal cells with population genetics and genome-scale epigenetic information to study neurodegenerative disorders in a genetically controlled and systematic manner. We have recently established a novel CRISPR functional genomics platform in monolayer and organoid neuronal cultures to quantitatively dissect how genetic, epigenetic, and environmental factors contribute to the development and progression of neurological diseases and to identify novel therapeutic targets.
